Wat Chalong is the largest and most important Buddhist Temple on Phuket Island.
'Wats - or Buddhist temples - are among the most important symbols of Thailand, partly because the majority of Thais are Buddhist and partly because they are so beautiful. In Phuket alone, there are 29 Buddhist temples spread around the island.
In fact, this small island is also home to many other religions. There are Hindu and Sikh temples, Christian churches, mosques and Chinese shrines. Outside the wats there are also many more Buddhist shrines.'

These three beach resorts are very touristic, especially Patong Beach, full of hotels, restaurants, McDonalds, Starbucks, shops, nightclubs, bars etc. The quietest of these beaches is the southest, Kata Noi.

The Jui Jui Temple in Phuket town is dedicated to a vegetarian god, Kiu Wong In, whose statue can be admired on the altar. His red face colour does not indicate fierceness but, according to Chinese symbolism, benevolence. Also interesting are the carved entrance doors of the temple.

We had a lunch in this lovely little eatery in central Phuket. The food was REALLY SPICY HOT! The ladies in the picture are the owner and her daughter and they were watching with interest if we are able to eat the meal or not. We were and the ladies were very happy that we loved their cooking. Album 'Phuket Town Center' uploaded 2010-03-05 by Eeva
